In an era of "clean eating," "superfoods," and viral nutrition hacks, it’s harder than ever to know how to simply feed your child. When does a focus on "wellness" cross the line into restriction or diet culture?

Join us for an essential virtual live class led by Jacquelyn Stern, RDN from Annapolis Nutrition. During this class, Jacquelyn will peel back the layers of modern wellness culture to help you foster a joyful, shame-free relationship with food in your home while still prioritizing your child’s growth and vitality.

What You Will Learn

This session provides a practical, science-based roadmap for navigating the family dinner table in 2026.

Where to Start

  • The Division of Responsibility: Learn the "What, When, and Where" vs. "How Much" framework that reduces mealtime power struggles.

  • Neutral Language: How to stop labeling foods as "good" or "bad" to prevent early patterns of food guilt.

  • Modeling Habits: Why your relationship with your own plate is the most powerful tool in your parenting kit.

What to Know: Wellness vs. Diet Culture

  • The "Clean Eating" Trap: Understanding how wellness terminology can sometimes mask restrictive eating patterns.

  • Body Neutrality: Shifting the focus from what a body looks like to what a child's body can do (play, learn, grow).

  • Intuitive Eating for Kids: Supporting the innate hunger and fullness cues children are born with.

When and Where to Seek Support

  • The Pediatrician’s Role: Using annual well-child visits to track growth curves and discuss nutritional deficiencies (like Iron or Vitamin D) without focusing on weight.

  • Red Flags: Identifying the "wellness-to-disordered-eating" pipeline, including obsessive label reading or sudden exclusion of entire food groups.

  • The Care Team: When to bring in a pediatric RD or a mental health professional for extra support.
