Jennifer Redmond, CPNP, Now Also an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant

Annapolis Pediatrics is proud to announce that Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (CPNP), Jennifer Redmond is now officially an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).

Jennifer is now one of three certified lactation consultants at Annapolis Pediatrics, each with extensive background as nurse practitioners, over 1000 hours of direct breastfeeding care and over 90 hours of breastfeeding-specific education. In December of 2017, Annapolis Pediatrics announced Alicyn Bassler, CPNP, IBCLC and Kendra Nagey, CPNP, IBCLC as lactation consultants with the practice.

“Jennifer has a wealth of knowledge related to breastfeeding and newborn care,” stated Kendra Nagey. “This feather in her cap is simply an official recognition of part of that expertise.”

Prior to coming to Annapolis Pediatrics, Jennifer worked in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Anne Arundel Medical Center for 16 years helping medically fragile newborns and their mothers breastfeed. “I truly love helping mothers and infants have an enjoyable, rewarding, and mutually beneficial breast-feeding journey,” said Jennifer. “I am looking forward to helping Annapolis Pediatrics expand on our Lactation Support Services for the benefit of our patients’ long-term health.”

Jennifer, Alicyn and Kendra have daily lactation appointments available in their schedules and are able to see patients in Annapolis, Crofton and Severna Park and now Kent Island. We have a dedicated lactation room at our Annapolis site.

Breastfeeding support and education is very important to Annapolis Pediatrics. In November of 2016, Annapolis Pediatrics was awarded designation as a Breastfeeding Friendly Healthcare Provider. Breastfeeding is welcomed at all five of our office locations.

In addition to daily lactation appointments, Annapolis Pediatrics provides many other resources for breastfeeding mothers. We have a twice-monthly Breastfeeding Support Group that currently meets in our Annapolis office and a Breastfeeding 101 class for parents-to-be and new parents. The support group and classes are both led by our lactation consultants. Visit our Events page for upcoming class information.

“We could not be more pleased to officially welcome Jennifer to our lactation team” said Alicyn Bassler.

Congratulations to Jennifer on this wonderful accomplishment which is another resource for families and towards Annapolis Pediatrics’ ongoing goal of providing exceptional care for every child.
