Our 2016 Influenza Vaccine Clinics Have Ended
You can still receive the vaccine at your next regularly scheduled appointment visit.
- Annapolis Pediatrics will not be using the nasal influenza vaccine FLUMIST for the upcoming flu season.
- The Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP), and the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) have recommended against using FLUMIST to prevent influenza, at least for this year’s flu season.
- This recommendation was based on CDC vaccine effectiveness data for the last three influenza seasons in the US that showed that FLUMIST did not demonstrate significant effectiveness in children 2-17 years of age.
