Health Information Systems Manager

This position is accountable for all aspects of Annapolis Pediatrics health information systems, in providing technical and application support to system design, leadership, training & support, usage, and quality control. This role maintains effective informatics implementation and administration, data analysis and reporting, and project management with specific protocols. This position will be responsible for implementing HIS best practices for the electronic health record environment, while promoting the use of the EHR in various settings. Activities include developing policies and procedures, managing staff responsible for analysis, chart completion, identity and release of information as well as managing vendor relationships. Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements (HIPAA/HITECH, COMAR) for record completion and release and retention of health information. This position includes direct supervisory responsibilities for medical records specialists and interpreter.
This position entails working with providers, clinical, and operational staff in multiple offices and reports to the Executive Director. The role is expected to provide organizational systems support to the Board and the various Partner-led committees as well as make qualified recommendations to the Board and/or Committees to adhere to the practice’s mission, best practices, and implement strategic goals at the systems level.
Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or Healthcare Administration (required); Five years’ experience with healthcare information systems in a healthcare environment (required); High level of knowledge of healthcare informatics and healthcare operations (essential); Experience with Intergy – Greenway Health’s EHR solution (preferred) Strong knowledge of financial systems and analysis, computer systems and applications, and subject matter expert with electronic health record (EHR / EMR) implementation and usage.
Effective interpersonal skills, written, and oral communication skills; Independent thinking and the ability to solve problems with minimal direction in a fast-paced environment; Skilled in personnel management, organizing, planning, exercising initiative, problem-solving, decision-making, development and maintaining effective relationships with providers, clinical and clerical staff, and patients; Ability to function independently within scope of practice, utilizing sound professional judgment and specialized business knowledge in the exercise of organization leadership; ability to effectively participate in and support project teams to achieve results.
